Julie Andersen and CHATTERBOX INT’L have been hosting the Altered Barbie shows since 2003. The organization is dedicated to creating multidimensional, multiplatform exhibitions that bring emerging and established artists of all ages and all cultural backgrounds together.

kayla garelick was born and raised in Northern California. her teachers complained that she daydreamed; her mother gave her a used brownie camera for her 9th birthday and taught her to use the darkroom and value her daydreams. now kayla uses a digital Rebel and a dry "darkroom" on her computer. after many years away, kayla returned to Berkeley in 2001. in 2003 she was hospitalized with leukemia. while there, her memories of the high Sierra and other unique places in California and her desire to share her awe of life through her photographic art inspired her to work in concert with the chemotherapy to fight the cancer. in 2003 she started daydreaming arts, gave her first art show and hasn't stopped since. in 2006 kayla moved to The Sunset district of San Francisco where she had three shows in the second half of the year. in February of 2007 her work was part of the juried exhibition “Abstractions, Color & Texture” at Aurora Colors Gallery in Petaluma. in March 2007 kayla's art was featured in the “TV of Tomorrow Show” at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. also in March her work was part of the group show “Green” at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts in the City of Alameda. in April, also at the F.B.C.A., her work was a sponsor's Best in Show in “Alameda on Camera 2007.” currently kayla has a solo exhibition “The Colors of San Francisco” at the Education Center in the Juvenile Justice Center in San Francisco. her work is part of the juried “May Day, All Things Bright and Beautiful” exhibition at Aurora Colors Gallery where she will have two pieces in June for the How I Love Thee Ocean exhibit. kayla continues to show at FBCA (in May: Earth, Sky, and Between, June: Peaches and Cream) where she has become member coordinator. during her work on Altered Barbie 2007 kayla was diagnosed with a new cancer. she had a stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor and is honored to have the opportunity to work on altered barbie 2008!!!!!
